The gear change lever is used to shift the engine into another gear. It is mounted on the left side of the bike and sits close to your footrest, so you can easily reach it with your toes when you need it. During acceleration or deceleration, gear changes are necessary to maintain a certain speed for optimal power. This is done in conjunction with the clutch assy. When shifting, the clutch lever is pressed and the shift pedal is quickly rocked up or pressed. After each shift, the gear change lever returns to its neutral position.
